Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Just Chefn Around (“the App,” “we,” “us”) collects and how it’s used. The App helps you browse recipes, build a dish, cook with timed steps, manage a grocery list, import recipes, and optionally subscribe to Pro.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you sign up or sign in (email/password or Google via Supabase), we store identifiers such as your user id, email, and display name associated with your account.
- App content you create. Recipes you import or save, dishes you build or save, grocery items, cook-session related data, profile info you choose to set, and social actions in the App (such as posts, likes, or follows where those features are available).
- Imported recipe sources. If you import from a URL, pasted text, or a short video, we process that content to extract a recipe. Video imports may involve transcription. We store the resulting recipe and related source metadata needed to provide the feature.
- Subscription & purchase data. Purchases go through Apple. We use RevenueCat to receive subscription status (for example, whether you are on a free trial or Pro) so we can unlock features. We do not receive your full payment card number.
- Technical data. Standard server logs may include IP address, device/app identifiers, timestamps, and error information needed to run and secure the service.
How we use information
- To provide and operate the App (account, recipes, dishes, cooking, grocery, import, feed/profile features).
- To enforce free-tier limits and Pro entitlements when billing is enabled.
- To improve reliability, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests.
- To comply with law and protect our rights.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We use service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Supabase — authentication and related account infrastructure.
- Our API hosting (Railway) — application backend and database.
- Apple / RevenueCat — in-app purchases and subscription status.
- Anthropic — parses import content (recipe text, URL, or a transcript we generate) into a recipe.
- OpenAI Whisper — when a video import has a thin caption, we transcribe its narration to text before parsing. Used only when needed.
We may also share information if required by law, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, with notice where appropriate.
Public content
Some features may make certain content visible to other users (for example display name, profile photo, or posts you choose to share). Don’t share anything in the App you wouldn’t want others to see.
Data retention
We keep account and app content while your account is active and as needed to provide the service. You can delete your account in the App (Profile → Delete Account). We may retain limited records as required for legal, security, or accounting reasons.
Your choices
- You can update profile information in the App where available.
- You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple ID subscription settings.
- You can delete your account in the App under Profile → Delete Account. This permanently removes your account, recipes, dishes, and posts. Subscriptions are managed by Apple — cancel in Settings.

Children
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
International users
We may process information in the United States and other countries where our providers operate.
Changes
We may update this policy. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above and, when changes are material, provide additional notice in the App or by email when appropriate.
